I've been saying for a while now that I want to run a 5k and basically just get into running. I've never been much of a runner. I was always one of the ones in P.E. who ended up walking during most of our runs. Even when I was in the best shape of my life, I still couldn't run very well (maybe a 10 minute mile on the treadmill if I was lucky).
So, after going to Utah and gaining back 5 of the 20 pounds that I lost (Ugh!), I've decided to re-dedicate myself to my goal of losing more weight. I've been at a plateau (back & forth 2-4 lbs) for the past 3 months! I think my body just got used to what I was doing for exercise, and I need to change it up a bit. Now that the weather is (sort of) better here, I've decided to give the C25K running program another try. (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml). I got about 4 weeks into the program back in early 2007, but then I got pregnant w/Toh-Toh and stopped. This time I'm determined to complete it.
So, today was day 1 of my training. It went pretty well. (Of course, we'll see how sore I am tomorrow). I even went in the rain, which I usually avoid doing, but I'm just that much more determined this time. :) I look forward to the day when I can run a consistent 30 minutes without stopping to walk.

I wish I liked to run too. It just isn't that fun. I would rather get exercise while doing something I enjoy. I have been wanting to get more into running this summer though.
Good luck with the program. I hope you have awesome success!
Dude! Good for you! I did that program a while back--tough but do-able. We should have done it together. All I can say is: You're a good girl!! Love ya!
Yea! I just started my very own couch - to - 5k. Yesterday was my first day of running. I ran for 60 seconds and rested for 2 minutes... I'm a little proud of my self.
