I should have kept my mouth shut.

When we moved here I commented that there were only two callings I wouldn't want--Gospel Doctorine Instructor and Cub Scouts. Gospel Doctorine because I think it would be an intimidating calling, and Cub Scouts because I know NOTHING about it.

So, I wasn't too surprised when last week I was called as the Den Leader for Cub Scouts. Today I got a big bag of books & manuals. As I was looking through the material, I became completely overwhelmed. It was like going to China without knowing Chinese. All I know about Cub Scouts is that you get a yellow shirt! I'm sure I will enjoy the calling once I figure out what I'm doing. In fact, I'm kind of excited about it, underneath the overwhelmed feelings.

Sometimes...

Sometimes I like to make up recipes. Then I realize they aren't really MY recipes. haha.

A couple weeks ago I was trying to decide what to make for dinner. I took some cream of chicken soup, added some garlic salt & cheddar cheese, mixed it with rice, layed some chicken breast on top, and finished it off with more cheddar cheese. It was really good. Even Allen said it was a keeper. Then about a week later I saw a commercial on TV for Cheesy Chicken & Rice Casserole by Campbell's. Darn it! Now I can't take credit for that one. Oh well, I'll still keep in in the dinner rotation.

Elmo's World In My Living Room

Today as Allen and I were cleaning up after lunch, we heard Mooch man in the other room singing, "La la la la, la la la la. Elmo's World." Little did we know, he was coloring ALL over the walls with a pink crayon. As Mooch and I cleaned it up, I had to explain to him that just because Elmo colors on his walls, doesn't mean we can color on ours. lol Thank goodness for washable crayons!

Naps

I just thought I'd write an update on one of my previous posts about naptime. Shortly after TW was born, Moochy went through a phase where he wouldn't take naps. I'm happy to say that this phase only lasted a couple weeks. Now he is back to taking his nap, but he has to get it before 1 p.m., or he won't go to bed before 10 p.m. I'm so happy to have this time back to relax, workout, or just take a nap myself.

I figured out the hard way...

I should have been smart enough to know this, but I just wasn't thinking. The other night after the ham had been in the oven for a while, I realized I didn't add water like I usually do. So, I took it out of the oven, turned on the water, and put the glass pan (with the ham in it) under the running water. Not a very bright idea I figured out, as the pan shattered between my fingers. Luckily, no one was hurt, but I was pretty sad over losing the ham and my best pan.

"I Yove You... Dad"

Mooch has started saying "I Yove You... Mom" "I Yove You... Dad" "I Yove You... Towey (Toh-Toh)". The other day as I was cooking dinner, I heard him in the other room saying, "I poo poo. Dad? I Yove You... Dad." Haha. Allen wasn't in the room with him at the time (Moochy tends to hide when he has to go, then he'll come and tell us he needs his diaper changed). I have to admit, I felt some relief that he said "I yove you, DAD" instead of "MOM". How could Allen resist? He had to change his diaper. LOL

Yesterday at dinner Moochismo let out a little belch, and said "Ma-om" (in a blaming, shocked sort of way as if I was the one who had burped). We had a good laugh over that.

I weighed Toh the other day... Well, actually I weighed myself holding him, then weighed myself not holding him, so it's hardly scientific. He was 17 lbs!!! I know 1-year-olds who barely weigh 17 lbs. WOW!

A Month Gone

I know it's been a month since I've written anything, and it has definitely been a busy one. I FINALLY have a moment to sit down and type something. Phew.

We spent the holidays at my parents' house. It has been so nice to be near family again and we just wish Allen's family lived closer so we could see them more often.

ALLEN is working back at his old job. I think he enjoys being busy again. He got his grades for last term. We were both shocked to see that he did surprisingly well... especially for someone who had no motivation to do school work in a program he knew he wasn't going to complete. He has started taking courses to become a certified Project Manager. It is such a blessing, as these courses are offered FREE through his work!

ANGIE I'm slowly getting things put together. I thought our last move was tough (being 8 months pregnant and all), but this one seems just as difficult. With a busy toddler and a colicky baby, I haven't found the energy or time to get much done. At least my kitchen is unpacked, though. That's the major one, and always the first thing I do when we move. I do manage to find the time to workout, which I am really greatful for. My goal is to run a 5K in the summer. We'll see if that happens. For someone who has never been much of a runner, I'm not sure how well that will go. Allen's family is doing a "Biggest Loser" competition, so I'm using that as my excuse to get back in shape... As if I really need an excuse.

MOOCH is our little puppy. He crawls around the house on all fours and barks/wimpers like a dog. (He doesn't seem to mind all the bruises on his knees & shins). He'll even shake and fetch. haha. We think it's a cute phase, even when he insists on telling us (in dog talk) what he wants... refusing to actually say the words because... hello mom... Dogs don't talk! He is like a little sponge and learns so quickly. He loves to point out all the shapes in our house, says "Mom" & "Dad" after most of his sentences, counts to twenty, and tries to say his ABC's. His favorite colors are yellow and blue... or maybe he just likes to say the words.

TOH-TOHis now 3 months old. I have yet to weigh him, but I'm really interested to see what he weighs now... especially since he tipped the scales at 13 lbs by 2 months! Three months has been the magic number for us. Like clockwork, his colic seemed to disappear immediately on January 9. Yay! Now I can actually go to bed before 1 a.m. if I want to... but instead here I sit typing this blog. He still seems to have a bad reaction when I have milk, though, so I have to avoid that. Toh-Toh is getting stronger all the time and loves to smile, laugh, and talk to us.
