Allen is out mowing the lawn, and I should be working to clean the house, but I'm not. I'll get to that eventually. Instead, I'm on the computer catching up with people's blogs, and writing my own. Little Moochy is out "helping" mow the lawn. Allen got half the lawn mowed last weekend, so he's doing the other half today. It really is a big job. The lawn grows SO fast, and the weather has not been cooperating lately. If he misses a week of mowing it takes even longer to get it all done.
Toh-Toh is sleeping (on my shoulder b/c he won't let me put him down right now). I love to cuddle with my sweet little baby. I can't believe he'll be a year old in a few months. He's already crawling all over and getting into everything. I can't do the dishes when he's around because he wants to climb up into the dishwasher.
I have been thinking how nice it will be to live somewhere with 4 seasons. Moochismo will get to enjoy snow next winter! (We rarely get snow here, and when we do it's gone by noon). And I'll be able to take the boys outside more often because it won't be cloudy & rainy all the time. Don't get me wrong. I love Washington and how green it is here, but the constant drizzle does get a bit old.
We're excited to get down to Utah and start the next chapter in our lives. (This book is getting long, isn't it?) I will definitely miss my family. I hope they will come visit us sometime, and hopefully Allen's work schedule won't be too crazy so we can come up to Washington as well. He'll be taking three classes this Fall (Human Anatomy, Nutrition, and Chemistry), along with a CNA course for the first half of the semester. Then he'll start working as a CNA (hopefully for IHC, so they'll help pay for school) while he completes his other prerequisites and applies for the nursing program. With all of Allen's history working in healthcare, you'd think he would have more of the pre-reqs done. He was NA Certified years & years ago, but that doesn't help much now.
Well, I suppose I should get some work done. I still have a lot of cleaning to do, and I also want to go through some more stuff to try and downsize for our move.

New Hair
I have been neglecting my hair lately. A few days ago I finally broke down and dyed it. (My roots were past my ears and my natural color was dull). Then today I went to get a haircut.
And here's my new hair.
I didn't do a picture from the front b/c it doesn't really look that different from the front.

What's New
We're moving. Yes, again! But to Utah this time. Near the beginning of June, we came to realize that Allen's PM courses were not really going to do much good for him. In searching through jobs, we realized that most PM jobs want someone with 5 yrs experience or a degree in Engineering or Computer Science--unless you want to do construction or something. (A degree in History wouldn't really qualify in that case. In fact, a history degree doesn't help much with anything, unless you want to go to law school or teach history).
So, we got to talking about it and decided to go with the plan we talked about 3 1/2 years ago--Nursing. The reason we didn't pursue it 3 1/2 yrs ago was b/c Allen didn't have the pre-reqs, and we thought it would be a long road. If only we knew then what we know now, right?
You might be wondering why we don't just do Nursing school here. Well, part of that has to do with how ridiculously high the cost of living is here. There's just no way we could do that unless Allen was working full-time and going to school full-time, which would be very hard on all of us. And we're not wanting to have tons & tons of student loans (on top of what we already have).
Allen has applied to Weber State and will start classes in August to get his pre-reqs done. We will be living in Allen's parents' basement for a few months until we can get on our feet. Then he'll apply for the nursing program for Fall 2009. We realize this means at least another 3 years of school, but we feel really good about it. There is no shortage of nursing jobs out there, and there are so many options within nursing for Allen to choose from.
So, there you have it. That's what I've been thinking about for the past 2-3 weeks. Sorry it's not something a bit more exciting. :)
