What's New

We're moving. Yes, again! But to Utah this time. Near the beginning of June, we came to realize that Allen's PM courses were not really going to do much good for him. In searching through jobs, we realized that most PM jobs want someone with 5 yrs experience or a degree in Engineering or Computer Science--unless you want to do construction or something. (A degree in History wouldn't really qualify in that case. In fact, a history degree doesn't help much with anything, unless you want to go to law school or teach history).

So, we got to talking about it and decided to go with the plan we talked about 3 1/2 years ago--Nursing. The reason we didn't pursue it 3 1/2 yrs ago was b/c Allen didn't have the pre-reqs, and we thought it would be a long road. If only we knew then what we know now, right?

You might be wondering why we don't just do Nursing school here. Well, part of that has to do with how ridiculously high the cost of living is here. There's just no way we could do that unless Allen was working full-time and going to school full-time, which would be very hard on all of us. And we're not wanting to have tons & tons of student loans (on top of what we already have).

Allen has applied to Weber State and will start classes in August to get his pre-reqs done. We will be living in Allen's parents' basement for a few months until we can get on our feet. Then he'll apply for the nursing program for Fall 2009. We realize this means at least another 3 years of school, but we feel really good about it. There is no shortage of nursing jobs out there, and there are so many options within nursing for Allen to choose from.

So, there you have it. That's what I've been thinking about for the past 2-3 weeks. Sorry it's not something a bit more exciting. :)

Wow, I'm jealous!....about the moving to Utah part. It's really expensive here in California too and it's killing me to spend so much money on everything! Good luck and hope things work out for you there! Keep blogging, we like to see how you are doing!

When Cody was in the hospital a couple weeks ago, his nurse was a guy, the flabotamist was a guy and so was the "charge" nurse who ended up giving Cody a successful IV. Nursing is a very good field. They're begging for them everywhere, so you could move wherever you want!
